1. I’m pretty sure dudes pass out drunk at parties all the time, and no one interprets this as a license to jam shit up their asses.
2. If I’m passed out drunk in the middle of the road and am unable to communicate and am wearing no pants and a t-shirt that says “Yes, Please!” and you stick anything in my vagina, you just raped me.
3. Your rape conviction is not what ruined your bright future. Your decision to rape someone is what did it. Good job.
4. Contrary to popular belief, women do not exist in a perpetual state of assumed consent.
The key to ending rape is for MEN TO STOP FUCKING RAPING PEOPLE. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.
If you think the discussion of our rape culture requires any more than this, you’re doing it wrong.
Michelle,
That’s the type of post I would tweet to @freshly_pressed.

can you imagine how fast and how strong rape charges would be IF men got raped like that? They were passed out and a bunch of women (not that we would mind you) decide what the hell, we’ll play how much can we put up this guy’s ass. After all he was drinking and passed out so asked for it! The laws would change so fast our heads would spin. just sayin

I was thinking the same thing. Also, if male politicians were the minority group in the Senate, imagine how supportive of the rights of others they would be.

Do yourself a favour. Read this blog post. Life Lessons and Gendered Observations from King of States.
There are some I could add to her list for South Africa.
5. Raping a virgin does not cure HIV/Aids
6. Wearing a skirt is not a woman taking out a billboard advertising for sex
7. Having a shower will not protect you from HIV/Aids

A*men Michelle. On every point.
I cannot believe that in 2013 twenty-fucking-thirteen the “she ask for it by her actions” logic is still debated. EVEN IF SHE DID ASK FOR IT …. was it wise to pursue??? HELL-TO-THE-NO.

Perfect, so concise, the only piece of literature that needs to be read on the subject! Well done.
This should be read out by the judge at every rape trial.
Awesome.
